Julie Barbier, our Center’s resident nurse for three months, has numerous medical objectives. A major one is to teach and to review the importance of hand washing and proper body hygiene with the kids.

Splitting up the kids into small groups of between 10 and 15 children, Julie explains to them about the nasty bacteria which cause most digestive illnesses by contamination and, above all, how to avoid getting contaminated by bacteria thanks to hand washing in an diligent and careful manner.

The kids listen attentively to explanations and faithfully respect proper hygienic guidelines before regularly taking their lunch at the Center’s cafeteria.

Let’s make a bet that very quickly we’ll soon hear less complaints of “Chhou phou” (My stomach hurts) in the infirmary, due to an anticipated decline in gastro-intestinal problems experienced by the kids.
