{"id":4463,"date":"2017-04-29T13:59:58","date_gmt":"2017-04-29T11:59:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.taramana.org\/en\/?p=4463"},"modified":"2017-05-02T03:30:51","modified_gmt":"2017-05-02T01:30:51","slug":"retour-nouvel-an-khmer-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.taramana.org\/en\/retour-nouvel-an-khmer-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Some news concerning the 2017 Khmer New Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4458\" src=\"https:\/\/www.taramana.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_2121.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_2121\" width=\"5184\" height=\"3456\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.taramana.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_2121.jpg 5184w, https:\/\/www.taramana.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_2121-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.taramana.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_2121-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.taramana.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_2121-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 5184px) 100vw, 5184px\" \/><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>The Khmer New Year took place on April 6th and 7th at the Taramana Centre and from April 13th to 16th throughout Cambodia !<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/> The Khmer New Year takes place in mid-April and represents the most important religious event of the year in Cambodia.\u00a0 During this annual event, Cambodians have several days of vacation which brings families together and allows people to pay hommage to their ancestors in pagodas where they implore deities with prayers and offer up flowers.\u00a0 The Cambodian New Year is a very festive event, right in the heart of pagodas, villages and cities.\u00a0 Many parties and celebrations are organized througout Cambodia.\u00a0 Cambodians sing, dance and play different traditional games all day long. <\/p>\n<p> At Taramana we also celebrated this event with two days of festive activities orangized by the whole team.\u00a0 On April 6th, kids played soccer, dodge ball and the chicken-fox-snake game with the framework of a sport tournament. The kids really had fun and it was a day filled with lots of energy and team spirit!\u00a0 On Friday, April 7th, mini Olympic games, based on traditional Khmer games, were organized at the Centre.\u00a0 You could hear the kids laughing all day !<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, to wrap up the two wonderful days of activities, a special soir\u00e9e was organized by the Centre.
