Last June 1st, for International Children’s Day, nearly 50 children from Taramana were invited to visit the Pochentong International Airport in Phnom Pehn by the Cambodia Airports (Groupe Vinci Airports).   The children exchanged their school card for a special visitor pass and were able to discover the airport’s structured organisation visiting the entry hall, then seeing the Business lounge, and afterwards going through the departure zone and the area were luggage is scanned. Even if it wasn’t possible to enter the cockpit for security reasons, many children still dream of being able to someday take off from Phnom Penh to go either to Europe or to the US. The culminating point of the visit was seeing the airport firefighter’s station where every kid got to have some fun using the fire hose before being served a wonderful lunch graciously offered by the Cambodia Aiport Authority.   Each child also received a gift as a souvenir of this special visit which just might suffice for some of the boys to one day become professional firefighters…
